Playing against Arunachal Pradesh at the JSCA Oval in Ranchi, the Bihar batter produced a stunning 32-ball hundred that sent the record books spinning.The opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 turned into something truly extraordinary. Gani’s explosive 128 from just 40 balls lit up the contest and came after an equally jaw-dropping effort from young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who earlier had hammered 190 of 84.
With Suryavanshi laying the foundation and Gani going all-out in the final overs, Bihar piled up an astonishing 574 for 6 — the highest total ever recorded in a List A innings. In the process, they moved past Tamil Nadu’s long-standing mark of 506/2.
Who is Sakibul Gani?
Born on 2 September 1999, Gani comes from East Champaran in Motihari and has risen through the ranks despite limited resources. His journey hasn’t been smooth, but persistence has defined his career.He made his List A debut for Bihar in October 2019, yet his breakthrough moment arrived in February 2022. On his Ranji Trophy debut, Gani stunned everyone by scoring 341, becoming the first cricketer to hit a triple century in his maiden first-class match.What followed was just as impressive — scores of 98 and 101 not out in his next two innings, giving him a record 540 runs across his first three first-class outings.
