With just days to go before Chatha Pacha: The Ring Of Rowdies hits theatres, the film’s biggest talking point has finally been put to rest. Actor Arjun Ashokan has confirmed that Megastar Mammootty does appear in the film, ending weeks of speculation sparked by its viral trailer. The teaser had closed on a striking image – a godfather-like figure named Walter, introduced with a dramatic flourish and a prominent capital “M”.
Fans read the signs instantly. Social media lit up with theories, and interviews followed.
Now, the confirmation is official.
From Tease To Truth
In a recent interview clip that went viral, Arjun had neither confirmed nor denied Mammootty’s presence when asked about the mysterious “M” in the teaser.
“Shouldn’t that ‘M’ stand out? Of course, the capital ‘M’ will stand out. Whatever it is, the M’s entry will be at another level,” he had said at the time.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Arjun went a step further and confirmed the cameo outright. For fans, it was the moment they had been waiting for.
The timing matters. The trailer for Chatha Pacha, directed by Advaith Nair, has already clocked massive views and set expectations high for its theatrical release next week.
‘It’s Not Fear, It’s Respect’
Despite having shared the screen with Mammootty before, Arjun says the nerves never really go away.
“I think that nervousness will remain when you’re shooting with him (Mammootty), no matter who you are. I don’t think it’s fear… it’s more the respect that comes out of your affection for him,” he said.
That feeling, he added, is something he wants to hold on to.
“That’s how it is for me, and I don’t ever want to change that. Let that be a personal trait I hold on to when it comes to my love for Mammukka,” he explained.
The two last worked together in Rahul Sadasivan’s Bramayugam (2024), which went on to become one of the most talked-about Malayalam films of the year.
‘Full Power, As Always’
Chatha Pacha also carries added significance behind the scenes. The film is rumoured to be among the first sets Mammootty joined after a brief break from acting linked to health concerns.
Arjun brushed aside any talk of change.
“There are no changes in him at all! It’s all the same energy and love for his craft. When you see him, either on-screen or in-person, it’s full power, and that’s why we’re his fans!” he said.
Chatha Pacha: The Ring Of Rowdies, scheduled to release on January 22, stars Arjun Ashokan alongside Roshan Mathew, Vishak Nair and Siddique.
