Bobby Deol made his comeback last year with Animal, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor. The actor received immense appreciation for his role and started getting more film offers after a few years of setbacks. Bobby has often spoken about the low phase in his career and the impact it had on his family. In a recent chat with SCREEN, Bobby Deol broke down while recalling his hardships.
A teary Bobby Deol said, “I did put them through hardship, my family. We are so close-knit, we live together and I know that they were going through pain by seeing me go through pain and there is nothing they could have done.”
Bobby Deol’s older brother, superstar Sunny Deol, was also present during the conversation. He tried to console his crying younger brother. Bobby added, “That’s the whole thing. Don’t give up in life.” Interestingly, Sunny Deol also made his comeback last year with Gadar 2.
As for Bobby, when the actor didn’t have work in Bollywood, he took to drinking to cope with his hard times. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Bobby shared that it’s important not to dwell on past mistakes, as those struggles offer valuable lessons.
He went on to add, “Everybody feels weak, everybody feels they can’t… it is so difficult… that you can’t come out. It’s like you are drowning and people let themselves drown. I think everybody can swim out of it. I think there are small things here and there… suddenly there will be a switch turned out and you are like, ‘I can do it!’ For me it was everybody around me in my house who were so worried about me. They would keep encouraging me. But they were so sad in their eyes looking at me while I was torturing myself. They could not help me beyond comforting me with their words.”
Bobby Deol’s role as Abrar Haque in Animal marked a strong comeback in his career. Despite limited screen time, his portrayal of the menacing antagonist was highly praised by both fans and critics. His ability to convey intensity with minimal dialogue has been a standout moment in his career. However, it is unclear whether he will return for Animal 2.
