Silambarasan’s 49th film, backed by the producers of GOAT, features a striking poster that hints at a return to a vintage role for the actor. Known to his fans as Simbu, this will be his 49th starring role. STR49 is expected to revive the iconic Simbu, blending nostalgia with entertainment. The actor has shared his excitement about working with Aswath Marimuthu, an admired and talented filmmaker. Simbu promised that the film would provide a complete entertainment experience for audiences. The film will be produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh and Kalpathi S Suresh.
Reports suggest that STR49 is a love drama aimed at appealing to viewers of all ages. It is expected to follow in the footsteps of Silambarasan’s earlier successes such as Dum, Manmadhan, Vallavan, and Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya. Filming for STR49 is set to begin in December, with Silambarasan expected to complete a short project before that. More details about the cast and crew will be announced soon.
Fans were surprised when Silambarasan decided to delay STR48 in favour of STR49, sparking curiosity about his directorial plans. Although STR48 was formally announced more than a year ago, the project has yet to move forward, leading to speculation that it may have been shelved. However, fans are eagerly awaiting an official update from the creators of STR48 to address rumours surrounding the anticipated action drama. Meanwhile, Silambarasan is set to play dual roles in Desingh Periyasamy’s upcoming film.
