England captain Tom Prest won the toss and chose to bat first to avoid scoreboard pressure of a run-chase. But India did it in style: bowl out the opposition for a low total of 189 in 44.5 overs to avoid that pressure.
To cap a dominating performance, wicketkeeper Dinesh Bana finished the chase of 190 with two sixes and 14 balls to spare in a four-wicket win.
Few of the squad members, including Shaik Rasheed and Yash Dhull, had tested positive for Covid-19 midway through the tournament, but whoever stepped in, performed their roles perfectly and India did not lose a single game in the tournament.
Former India opener Virender Sehwag praised the performance of the team, hailing “fantastic contributions from everyone”.
